This week, FreshWater Cleveland released its list of the most popular stories of the year so far—and one powerful feature rose to the top: Humans Over Human Trafficking—Massive Awareness Raised.
We’re proud to share that this story, anchored in our Humans Over Human Trafficking campaign, has become one of the most-read pieces of 2025. It’s a clear sign that people are ready for a new kind of conversation, one grounded in dignity, action, and the power of the human spirit.
Launched earlier this year, Humans Over Human Trafficking was created to reframe how we talk about human trafficking. Our creative agency Brokaw generously brought this public awareness campaign to life. Too often, this issue is surrounded by fear and hopelessness. This campaign shifts the narrative centering the voices of survivors, honoring resilience, and calling all of us to be part of the solution. It reminds us that we must see the humanity behind the headlines and recognize that trafficking can be prevented when communities are informed, connected, and empowered.
One of the individuals who brought this vision to life is Harold D’Souza. His journey, from arriving in America full of hope, to surviving 18 months of labor trafficking, to rising as a national advocate and champion for others is a powerful testament to what’s possible when dignity is restored and voices are amplified. This year, Harold partnered with us to share his story publicly, helping others understand that trafficking can happen anywhere—and that together, we can end it.
We’re honored to see this campaign resonating. And we’re just getting started.
